After Completion of Endodontic Treatment

Endodontic treatment has now been completed. The root canal system has been permanently sealed. The opening in the tooth for the root canal may be closed with either a permanent or temporary filling. If a temporary filling is placed then it will be necessary for you to return to your general dentist for a permanent filling or crown. Situations vary between patients, so we will certainly discuss this with you at the time of your treatment. A complete report of treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist.

If a crown is indicated at your tooth then it is more prone to fracture until this is done. You should chew on the other side until your restorative dentist has placed a core build-up and a protective restoration, usually a crown.
