Coronavirus (covid-19) Update

The impact of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has, understandably, introduced a level of apprehension for patients seeking dental care. Fortunately, the past year has allowed for the analysis of data regarding the safety of dental visits. The overall consensus is that dental care is very safe. Marko Vujicic, PhD, chief economist and vice president of the American Dental Association Health Policy Institute, said in a press release, “The profession has taken this issue extremely seriously, and it shows.” Read the cited article in its entirety: DENTISTS ARE REPORTING A LOW RATE OF COVID-19: HERE’S WHY

We feel it  extremely important to make all aware of that we are doing to help keep our patients and staff safe. We want our patients to know the  protocols we have in place as we follow recommendations provided by the CDC, American Dental Association, and local health officials. Our safety protocol includes screening of every patient and visitor before entering the office for:

-fever: touchless temperature readings are taken for all patients, doctors and staff

-symptoms of respiratory illness such as fever/chills, cough, congestion or runny nose, or difficulty breathing

-new loss of taste or smell

-muscle or body aches

-nausea or vomiting

-any recent travel to high risk areas

-any possible exposure to an infected individual

We can not stress enough how important it is to inform us before coming to your appointment if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, or have been exposed to anyone who is sick.

Any person who is ill will be instructed to stay home and reschedule their appointment until they have fully recovered.

We ask that patients come unaccompanied, or if absolutely necessary with NO MORE than one other person.

We have established two separate waiting rooms in an attempt to minimize the number of people in any one room at a time.

We have always prided ourselves in maintaining nothing but the highest and most stringent levels of cleanliness and infection control, so little has changed in this regard. However, practical measures have been instituted such as removal of magazines, business cards, etc. from waiting areas. “Touch points” such as door handles and counter tops are being vigilantly disinfected throughout the day. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are placed throughout the office, and we ask that you use these immediately upon arriving to the office and again when leaving. Air purifiers utilizing UV-C light and HEPA filtration run for the entirety of each day in each of the treatment rooms as well as waiting areas.

To help minimize your time in the office and waiting areas as well as to minimize handling paper, PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR NEW PATIENT FORMS ONLINE prior to arrival.

Unlike other dental/medical practices, we are fortunate in that our doctors typically care for one patient at a time. This provides benefit in minimizing the number of individuals in the office.

We realize that the past year has proven quite challenging for all, however, we truly look forward to caring for you in a professional and safe manner. Thank you, Oak Hills Endodontics
