Meet Dr. Rayyan

Ahmad A. Rayyan, BDS, DDS, MS, was born in Jordan and completed his bachelor’s degree in dental surgery in Egypt. He returned to Jordan and practiced dentistry there before relocating to San Antonio. There he received his DDS degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center and continued on to receive an advanced degree in endodontics.

Dr. Rayyan says, “I was drawn to dentistry by a passion for promoting oral health and making a positive impact on individuals’ well-being. The opportunity to blend science, artistry, and patient care inspired my decision to become a dentist.”

Dr. Rayyan is a board-certified endodontist, which means he has passed stringent examinations by the American Board of Endodontics and achieved Diplomate status. He is also a member of the College of Diplomates, a group of endodontists who mentor other endodontists pursuing board certification. The College of Diplomates is a leader in endodontics education and promotes excellence. Additionally, Dr. Rayyan educates future dentists as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Dr. Rayyan says, “As an endodontist, my treatment philosophy is rooted in preserving natural teeth and their structural integrity. I prioritize saving teeth whenever possible.”  He believes in a conservative treatment approach that focuses on prevention, with an emphasis on educating patients about proactive measures to avoid dental issues. Dr. Rayyan recognizes the importance of balancing good aesthetics with dental health and function and considers both aspects of treatment. He says,

“I find great satisfaction in the ability to positively impact people’s lives through their oral health. The ability to alleviate pain, restore health, and enhance smiles contributes to a sense of fulfillment. The doctor-patient relationship is paramount. Building trust and meaningful connections with patients is gratifying, as is the opportunity to educate them about preventive care. I find great satisfaction in the precision and intricacy of endodontics, along with the opportunity to contribute significantly to patients’ overall health and well-being.”

Dr. Rayyan has many interests outside of dentistry. He enjoys immersing himself in nature, spending therapeutic time gardening and hiking in the serenity of the outdoors. He is also an adventurous culinary enthusiast who loves experimenting with flavors and creating delicious meals.
